What is Gastroscopy for?

Gastroscopy is a basic and quite common examination in the field of gastroenterology. It is a method to examine the upper part of the digestive tract, which consists of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum.
This examination is carried out with the help of an endoscope, which is a flexible instrument in the form of a thin tube and equipped with a video-optical system. With this system, the gastroenterologist can see and evaluate the inner surface of the digestive tract.
Gastroscopy as an examination lasts only a few minutes, while it does not cause pain despite the fact that it can be described as an unpleasant examination for the patient.
Through gastroscopy, diagnoses such as:
Gastritis.
GERD.
Ulcers of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum.
