World DOWN Syndrome Day

March 21 is World Day of all children and people suffering from Down syndrome. It was first defined as a chromosomal disorder in 1959 by a French pediatrician and geneticist, Jérôme Lejeune.
Down syndrome is associated with a delay in cognitive abilities and physical growth, which are also associated with some facial features.
The average IQ of people with this syndrome is about 50, compared to an average IQ of 100 in other children.
