The hip joint is one of the most common joints that is subject to wear and tear because it carries your weight. Although calcification of the hip joint is usually seen after the age of 60, it can also occur at very early ages.
The main symptom of hip calcification is pain. In the initial period during movement, the pain increases and decreases with rest, while as the disease progresses, pain can become a problem even during simple daily activities. In later periods, persistent pain may occur and joint mobility may be limited. The intensity of the pain is not always constant. Some patients attribute this to the weather or think it has to do with physical activity.
What are the diagnostic methods?
With an examination, it can be understood whether the patient's complaints originate from the hip joint. However, X-rays are used to make a differential diagnosis between diseases of the hip joints.
Treatment methods in the initial period are medications, weight control or weight loss if the patient is overweight, reorganization of work and daily life and, if necessary, physical therapy, are useful in controlling progression, pain and disease. In the developed period of the disease, the final treatment is done with surgical methods, including arthroplasty operations.
