“The Dietetics/Nutrition Service at Salus Hospital for the first time works in close cooperation with the Psychology-Psychiatry service, the Department of Endocrinology, the Department of Gastroenterology and the Department of General Surgery, equipped with all the apparatus for anthropometric measurements, physical activity measurements, etc
In this office, information and education of patients will be carried out in the framework of primary health care, in order to protect and promote good nutrition and the importance of physical activity.
In collaboration with the medical staff, the assessment and diagnosis of dietary risks will be made for hospitalized patients, as well as for patients who come for a dietary consultation, based on the latest scientific information and research, and the methods accepted by European national bodies and scientific associations
The aim of the Dietetics Service is to provide services of a high health standard, including:
- Dietetic consultation for all patients to take body measurements such as:
- Measurement of Basal Metabolism which is the amount of energy the body needs to keep an inactive awake body alive. Measuring basal metabolic rate is essential for developing a personalized diet plan.
- Body composition measurement to see body fat mass & muscle mass, which we can measure and evaluate in the long-term plan of the food diet.
- Counting muscle tissue and body fluids as a measure of hydration and edema/fluid retention.
- Information & Education of patients whose condition requires systematic dietary care
- Information on the combination of food groups to have a healthy meal complete with all the nutritional values in an individualized way.
- Draws up the nutritional plan for patients based on the morbidity determined by the doctor.
- Informing and educating them against malnutrition, i.e. problems arising from obesity or from insufficient quantitative or qualitative nutritional support
- The goal is to sensitize patients that, through an individualized diet, they can change their malnutrition.
